How HALM was founded
Meet Hannah Cheney and Sebastian Müller, the founding team of HALM.

The idea behind HALM
The idea of a sustainable alternative to the plastic straw came to the two founders during a beach clean-up on their trip to Thailand in 2015. Plastic straws are among the top 10 items of litter most frequently found on beaches. Every day, around three billion plastic straws worldwide are thrown away after a single use.
After extensive research, the couple opted for glass when they founded the company in 2016, because of its many convincing advantages (reusability, taste neutrality, easy cleaning and hygiene). Since the market launch in 2017, so many HALM straws have been sold that HALM customers together now save more than a tonne of plastic waste every single day.
