HALM glass straws are exclusively made in Germany manufactured, processed, and shipped. This is how we ensure environmentally friendly, short production and delivery chains.

We produce our HALM in our own glassworks in Thuringia. From there, they are transported to Berlin, where the finishing and logistics take place. We also work with Lebenshilfe from Brandenburg, which also handles logistics and finishing.

Our HALM are produced in our glassworks, which has over 60 years of experience ` unique drinking experience contributes. In the final step, the glass is annealed, eliminating stresses in the glass.

HALM is twice as sturdy as other glass drinking straws. To guarantee that you can use the drinking straws for a long time, HALM uses only extremely sturdy, high-quality glass from Germany. Nevertheless, it should be noted that a HALM is still made of glass and may break if dropped on the floor. Like any glass, a HALM can also break. But with a Breakage rate of under 0.01% this is only very rarely the case. If the HALM should ever break, it breaks into large pieces that are easy to pick up.

Our drinking straws are made of high-quality German glass that is extremely sturdy and durable. However, the straws are not unbreakable—just like mugs or drinking glasses.

Important is that the straws cannot chip at the edges and therefore no risk of injury consists. In addition, HALM straws can cannot be bitten through - Guests won't even try it! And even if they have tried, HALM glass is strong enough to withstand the bite. HALM is absolutely safe - even for children.

A HALM has a lifespan of 1-2 years. It not only holds approx. 2,000 dishwasher wash cycles not only looks good, but is also extremely sturdy. If a drinking glass with HALM falls, the drinking glass is more likely to break. And if the HALM should ever break, compared to a borosilicate drinking straw it can easily recycled in glass recycling is thus not turned into an additional waste product.

All alternatives to plastic naturally have their pros and cons. In comparison, however, glass is clearly the alternative.

Glass is the only material that offers absolute Neutral taste guaranteed and ensures that there is no interaction between the drink and the taste of the straw. At the same time, there are major differences in quality when it comes to the durability of glass straws. HALM glass is not ordinary glass. In addition, unlike other glass straws, HALM straws are too 100% recyclable, as no borosilicate is used in the manufacturing process.

Sustainability in glass production - is that even possible?

Considering that an oven is heated to over 1,200°C If it has to be heated and then stays on continuously, that sounds very contradictory at first. 

We follow different standards here, however. HALM production not only relies on renewable energy resources back in the form of green electricity, but is even EMAS certified, to ecological standards.

Additionally, with HALM we do not produce any new waste product, as our glass in waste glass recycled can be used and reused for 1-2 years. That's good not only for the environment, but also for your wallet.

Our HALM are currently only available in a simple, transparent design. One of the reasons for this is that only in this way can a flawless cleaning of the glass drinking straw is possible. On the other hand, we would like a 100% sustainable product offering. Unfortunately, most paints are made from mineral oils and therefore often harm the environment.

HALM drinking straws are in the Glass dishwasher very easy to clean, just like glasses or cutlery.

HALM simply place upright in the dishwasher cutlery basket. This allows them to be rinsed from top to bottom despite their small opening, achieving the same level of cleanliness as a drinking glass. Afterwards, the HALM should be left standing in the basket for a short time to let them drip dry. No need to worry about breakage: Our glass can withstand temperatures from -40 to 200 degrees.

Additionally, our HACCP-compliant catering brush can be purchased to remove stubborn dirt and allow for cleaning if the dishwasher should ever stop working.

For hygienic, pure cleanliness, the most important thing is the Inner diameter The diameter of a straw is important. With HALM, this has been chosen perfectly, so the water can flush through the HALM flawlessly without affecting the drinking experience. Our glass withstands temperatures of -40 to 200 degrees withstand. Cleaning in a commercial glasswasher or a conventional dishwasher is therefore possible without any problems.

How many HALM can be cleaned in the dishwasher at the same time depends on the appliance and the number of cutlery baskets used. Our matching Cutlery basket offers space for around 350 straws in 8 compartments. This may vary for smaller cutlery baskets.

The HALM Inner diameter The design is such that cleaning in the dishwasher is perfectly possible without affecting the drinking experience. This diameter is larger than that of a conventional straw. This allows the water to flow through easily and clean the inside. Another advantage of the above-average inner diameter is that the HALM dry faster.

Additionally, we also recommend leaving the cutlery basket to stand for 15 minutes after cleaning so that the HALM can drain.

The polishing of the HALM is not necessary. Upright cleaning in the dishwasher and subsequent drying restore the HALM to their shine.

The formation of water spots on the HALM depends on the Lime content of the rinse water. If the water is very hard, we recommend using Limescale Remover in the dishwasher.

Our own expertise and our customers' feedback suggest that water spots on HALM only occur in rare cases. In this respect, a HALM behaves like a normal drinking glass. So if the limescale content causes water spots on the drinking glasses used, this will generally also be the case with a HALM.

From our experience, a HALM lasts at least 3,000 wash cyclesbefore it starts to turn cloudy. Since the cloudiness of a glass also depends on the dishwashing water used each time, please note that a HALM behaves like a conventional drinking glass.

HALM straws are the most sustainable and most cost-effective Alternative to plastic straws. With HALM, you can annual costs can be reduced significantly compared to other (disposable and reusable) straws.

Reusable straws are clearly worthwhile compared to disposable straws in terms of cost. In addition, HALM is due to its high quality and durability more cost-effective than other reusable straws.

The experience of our customers shows that more HALM tends to disappear at the beginning than later, once guests have become used to them. We also recommend HALM for the Resale to offer. We recommend HALM for hospitality exclusively in straight design. This stems from the fact that the bent HALM are more difficult to clean, and we can therefore no longer guarantee hygienic cleanliness.

Our straws are made in Sets of 20/50 units same length packaged and shipped. Therefore, it is possible to combine sets of 20/50 HALM in different sizes in one order and benefit from our bulk prices.

The minimum order quantity for the resale sets is a display of 10, i.e. 10 sets. The display stand is included free of charge.

The MSRP of the resale sets depends on the set size. For the sets of 4, we recommend an MSRP of 7.90 euros and for the sets of 6 an MSRP of 9,90 euros.

Our HALM Resale sets can currently only be purchased with elegant laser engraving.

We offer various options for customizing HALM. Basically, the elegant laser engraving of the drinking straw for hospitality. This not only gives HALM a very personal touch, but also serves as an advertising medium.

The requirements for the engraving request depend on whether it is a logo/design or lettering.

In the Logo/motif engraving we recommend a high-resolution image format. We achieve the best results with a vector file (EPS or SVG format). Please note that the engraving design should not be too small or too detailed, as the width of the engraving area is a maximum of 5.5mm and intricate details will not be visible.

The Text request can be easily added during the order process (max. 35 characters). You can also choose your preferred font here. If the desired font is not available, you can also request it by email or via our Contact form, stating the order number, must be communicated.

The engraving process usually takes 1–3 days. The exact delivery time depends on the scope of your order and on whether we can fulfil the engraving request as desired.

The engraving area is always 5.5mm wide. The length, however, depends on the length of the HALM. For hygiene reasons, 3cm is left free at each end for the mouthpiece. Our HALM therefore have the following engraving areas:
